This is the very popular Steil Red, designed by Cameron Chapman, a well known salmon angler and Ghillie on the River Thurso, this is one of the flies that caught a record number of salmon on the Ashiesteil beat of the river Tweed.  Once home to sir Walter Scott this famous beat offers some of the best fly water on upper Tweed and is always worth a cast in Gladdies.  The Steil Blue is a must pattern for salmon.
